【IMB/Frontier Seminar】Howard Y Chang (張元豪)
IMB Frontier seminar _ Dr. Howard Y. Chang.
The seminar will take place at 11 am on Tuesday, July 9th, in the B1F auditorium of the IMB.
Howard is a distinguished professor at Stanford University, renowned for his pioneering research on the role of long non-coding RNAs in stem cells, reprogramming, development, and cancer. His recent groundbreaking studies on circular RNA/immunity and extrachromosomal DNA (ecDNA) in cancer represent some of the most exciting emerging directions in scientific research. Howard completed his MD/PhD under the mentorship of Dr. David Baltimore. Following his clinical residency and fellowship, he embarked on his research career at Stanford, where he achieved a tenured professorship in record time within eight years. Dr. Chang has published over 150 primary research papers in high-impact journals, namely Cell, Nature, and Science. Notably, his paper on HOTAIR was recognized as one of Cell's Landmark Papers, an honor awarded to just 25 papers from 1974 to 2014.
Howard is also a distinguished “triple” Academician in the USA and an Academician of the Academia Sinica. He was awarded the 2018 NAS Award in Molecular Biology for his groundbreaking discoveries of long noncoding RNAs and the development of technologies that unveiled the noncoding genome. In 2024, he received the prestigious King Faisal Prize in Biology, further recognizing his outstanding contributions to the field.
Don’t miss this extraordinary opportunity to hear from a leading figure in the field!
